If there’s one thing a lot of us have in common, it’s our love of Kmart. It’s hard not to love a store that is not only cheap, but stocks almost everything you need. It’s also a little dangerous because more often than not, you come home with a lot more than you probably need (but who can resist?!). The homewares sections is where you can usually find me, but I can’t go past the beauty section without having a look at what’s new.
In all honesty, that beauty section in Kmart is becoming more and more appealing – especially since they started stocking more affordable brands. When Elf arrived at Kmart the beauty community in New Zealand went nuts, and now there’s another brand on the shelves worth checking out – Fifth Avenue.
We were lucky enough to be sent some products from the Fifth Avenue range to try, so I thought we’d share our thoughts on the ones we received. We got the Fifth Avenue CC Cream in Light, Fifth Avenue Shadow Stick in Bronze and the Fifth Avenue Mineral Bronzer in Inner Goddess.
The Fifth Avenue CC Cream* (RRP: $11.00 NZD) is supposed to help combat redness, sallowness and dullness and is recommended to use under foundation or on it’s own. First of all I have to say this isn’t a good colour match for me at all, it’s too dark and orange on me, so it’s not really ideal for wearing on it’s own or under foundation. The texture is quite nice though and it blends in easily, so if you can find a shade that matches you, this might be really nice!
The Fifth Avenue Mineral Bronzer* (RRP: $11.00 NZD) is a loose powder bronzer with very fine shimmer throughout. The colour we have is Inner Goddess and it’s a very natural looking bronzer. Because it’s shimmery, it’s definitely better suited for warming up the complexion than it is for contouring. I actually really like this, and think it’d be great for the warmer months (which are almost here!).
I’m a huge fan of shadow sticks, so I was quite excited to try the Fifth Avenue Shadow Stick* (RRP: $7.00 NZD) in Bronze. It’s a twist-up jumbo eyeshadow stick, and is incredibly smooth. I don’t know if I would really call this a bronze shade though, it kinda looks a bit more like a coppery rust colour.
The formula is super smooth which makes it easy to blend out, but it definitely needs to be set with an eyeshadow or loose powder otherwise it will crease throughout the day. I love using shadow stick as a base, so this is no problem for me and I will definitely get a lot of use out of this.
They have a lot of other products in the range including a Brow Kit (RRP: $9.00 NZD), Baked Eyeshadow Quad (RRP: $9.00 NZD) and a Volumising Mascara (RRP: $8.00 NZD), and I think it would definitely be worth checking them out – especially for that price!
Fifth Avenue is available now in Kmart stores across New Zealand and Australia. Have you tried anything from the range? What’s your favourite “beauty buy” from Kmart??
Thanks for viewing!
