This year we’re doing things a little bit differently, and I thought I’d have separate posts for high-end and drugstore makeup for the Best Of Beauty – especially since there have been so many amazing products from both ends of the spectrum that we’ve tried the past year. Today is the high-end edition, and it features some goodies if I do say so myself.
La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation* – RRP: $305.00 NZD
Definitely the most high-end makeup product in our collection, the La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation is actually a little too good. With full coverage, you wouldn’t expect a foundation like this to feel so light and amazing. It literally feels like you’re wearing a moisturiser, and since it contains the hero ingredient: caviar extract, you get all the benefits from that too.
It really is a fabulous product, and for the price that’s what you’d expect. But in all honesty, I wasn’t expecting it to be that good. Even the concealer you get with it is amazing – which in my experience has always been unheard of when it comes to these little concealer/foundation duos. Absolutely had to include it in the Best Of Beauty roundup, since it’s probably the best foundation I’ve used.
Kat Von D – Shade + Light Face Contour Palette – RRP: $86.00 NZD
I finally picked this up when the Sephora Australia website was shipping to New Zealand and it’s been one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. Contour palettes have been all the rage lately, and personally I think Kat Von D have nailed it when it comes to making a palette that suits light to medium skin tones. I actually don’t need to invest in another contour palette. I may still do it, but I don’t actually need to. This is perfect!
Becca Afterglow Palette – RRP: $83.00 NZD
This was another purchase from Sephora Australia, and I’ve been so obsessed with it ever since I got it. It includes 3 Shimmering Skin Perfectors in Moonstone, Rose Gold & Topaz and 2 Mineral Blushes in Wild Honey and Flowerchild. The shimmering skin perfectors are seriously amazing, and the blushes are gorgeous. Definitely a must-have for Summer.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – RRP: $80.00 USD
If you can get your hands on this limited edition Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit then you will NOT regret it. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders are amazing, and I actually already own the Ambient Lighting Palette as well as the Ambient Blush Palette which was released the previous year – so really, I didn’t need to get the Ambient Lighting Edit. But I desperately wanted it to complete my collection.
These powders are just amazing, and the quality as well as the shades included do not disappoint. I would definitely pick up this palette if you see it anywhere. It’s a must-have for any makeup enthusiast.
Chanel Lipsticks – RRP: $62.00 NZD
I have never treated myself to a Chanel lipstick before, so this year I decided it was about time and grabbed 2 of them. I picked up a Rouge Coco Shine in the shade Secret and it’s pretty much the most perfect everyday nude.
At the same time I grabbed a Rouge Allure lipstick in the shade Melodieuse, which is a bright coral pink. I am in love with this colour, and love the formula of both this and the Rouge Coco Shine. I think I definitely want to pick up more of these this year, there’s something so nice about an expensive lippy.
MAC Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quads*
We were lucky enough to be sent a lot of limited edition MAC products last year, and among our favourites were definitely the little eye palettes. MAC eyeshadows are always something that I find myself reaching for time and time again anyway, as I find they can always be counted on to apply well and look great. So when they come out with limited edition quads and palettes, they’re always the first thing I gravitate towards!
The three palettes that I thought worthy of Best Of Beauty status are the VioletWink palette from the Toledo collection (I love purple everything!), Mineralize Eye Shadow x 4 in Pure Bred, from the Haute Dogs collection and of course the Morning Light palette from the Guo Pei collection. All of the shadows have great pigmentation and are easy to apply and blend, and I’m still so thrilled that we were lucky enough to receive them. If you can find any of these anywhere, then make sure you pick them up!
Well that sums up my Best of Beauty when it comes to High-end makeup. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the products mentioned, are there any high-end makeup products that you were loving during 2015?
