Just in time for Christmas, The Body Shop have released some exciting new colour products. Included in the range are limited edition eyeshadow quads, limited edition nail polishes, matte lip liquid, eye colour sticks and matte lipsticks. We were lucky enough to be sent a few different products from the range to review for you guys.
The Body Shop Eye Colour Stick* – RRP: $25.95 NZD
The new Eye Colour Sticks from The Body Shop are creamy, shimmery stick shadows designed to enhance your individual eye colour. There are 4 shades in the range, and we have 2 of them: Nevada Gold, which is a beautiful glittery champagne gold; and Siberian Quartz, which is a gorgeous shimmery muted purple. I personally think these would suit any eye colour, but Nevada Gold would look especially great on blue eyes, and Siberian Quartz would look especially gorgeous on green and hazel eyes.
The Body Shop Eye Colour Sticks are 100% vegetarian, and are formulated with Community Trade Babassu Oil & Community Trade Beeswax. They’re very creamy, but you do have to blend quickly before it dries. Even though these do dry, I find that on my eyelids they seem to stay tacky for a while. For me this would mean they’re much better as an eyeshadow base as they seem to crease on me, but if you have drier eyelids I don’t think you’d have a problem using them on their own. Overall, I think they’re pretty great!
The Body Shop Colour Crush Matte Lipstick* – RRP: $29.95 NZD
The Body Shop have added 7 matte shades to their popular Colour Crush lipstick collection. They are very pigmented, and are formulated with Community Trade Beeswax, Brazil Nut, Argan Oil and Organic Coconut Oil.
We have 3 of the 7 shades: 420 Honululu Pink Matte, which is a stunning mid tone pink; 429 Osaka Plum Matte, which is a beautiful rich wine colour and 430 Sienna Rose Matte, which is a beautiful nude. They all have good pigmentation, and last a good 5 hours at least on the lips.
In terms of matte lipsticks, in my experience a lot of them have to dry down to a matte finish, but The Body Shop Colour Crush Matte Lipsticks actually apply matte – there’s no waiting around here! Because of this, these aren’t as creamy and don’t slide on the lips as easily – but they do feel surprisingly comfortable on the lips. I always feel like my lips are the true test as they’re always incredibly dry and get chapped very easily, but these didn’t seem to dry them out at all. Really great option for all you matte lip lovers out there.
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid – RRP: $19.95 NZD
If there’s one product that has taken the world by storm this year, it’s definitely liquid lipsticks. Not gonna lie, I was super excited to receive 4 of the 12 new Matte Lip Liquids. I definitely saved the best for last, as I honestly think these are amazing.
The 4 shades we have are 017 Mauritius Dahlia, which is a gorgeous berry shade (but looks a lot darker in the tube than it does on the lips), 026 Goa Magnolia, which is a beautiful magenta shade; 030 Crete Carnation, which is a a really gorgeous brown toned nude and 034 Nairobi Camellia, which is a gorgeous pink-toned nude.
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids are a beautiful creamy matte liquid lipstick that drys down quite quickly to a gorgeous velvety matte lip colour. They’re very pigmented, which is really important when it comes to matte liquid lipsticks as layering them can cause them to crack and flake off. But you definitely only need one thin layer with these.
I seriously love these, and would go as far as saying that these are one of my favourite matte liquid lipsticks. They just feel so nice on the lips, aren’t drying at all and last a really long time. They also don’t seem to transfer which is always a bonus! If you only buy one product makeup item from The Body Shop, it has to be one of these.
Everything in the new makeup range is 100% vegetarian, and contain no gluten, carmine, petrolatum or mineral oil. We LOVE that!
Have you tried any makeup from The Body Shop before? What’s your favourite brand of matte liquid lipstick?
