Best Of Beauty 2016 Drugstore Makeup Today’s Best Of Beauty is all about drugstore makeup. I definitely feel like we got to try a lot more affordable makeup products last year, and trust me when I say there were quite a few that wowed us. Here are the best of the best.

Maybelline Master Contour Palette* – RRP: $19.99 NZD

Maybelline Master Contour Palette

I had been waiting for a decent drugstore contour palette to come out, and once again Maybelline did not disappoint. The Master Contour Palette comprises of a really great contour powder, that isn’t too pigmented so it makes it easier to not go overboard; a pretty pink blush which is really nice too, and a really pretty light champagne highlight.

Although I probably would’ve preferred to see a more peachy blush, I still think this is a palette well worth picking up. It’s so good!

Milani Rose Powder Blushes – RRP: $7.99 USD

Milani Rose Powder Blush

Is there anything more beautiful than these blushes from Milani?! Not only is the product itself absolutely gorgeous to look at, but it’s actually one of the best blush formulas I have ever tried from the drugstore.

Weirdly these don’t look that impressive when you swatch them on your hand, but when applied to the face they have the most perfect pigmentation and blendability. They are seriously gorgeous, and have made me want to check out more from Milani.

Shaaanxo 18 Color Eyeshadow & Lipstick Palette RRP: $14.50 USD

Shaaanxo Palette - 18 Color Eyeshadow & Lipstick Palette

Everything from the shades, to the unique aspect of having a double sided palette makes this worth checking out. On the one side you have 9 gorgeous neutral eyeshadow shades that are all nicely pigmented and easy to blend.

Shaaanxo Palette - 18 Color Eyeshadow & Lipstick Palette

And on the other side you have 9 lipsticks that range from gorgeous nudes and brights to a beautiful vampy shade. They’re all very creamy and feel lovely on the lips, and my only complaint is that the bright pink is super soft and melty – so don’t be surprised if you ruin it after using it the first time!

Colourpop EVERYTHINGfrom $5.00 USD

Colourpop

I honestly couldn’t narrow it down, so thought I better just mention Colourpop as a brand. If you’ve been following us for awhile, you’ll know that we are HUGE fans of the brand (we also have a lot of reviews coming up, stay tuned!) and can honestly say that out of everything we’ve tried so far – we’ve loved the vast majority of it.

Definitely check out the reviews we’ve already posted, and just know that you can almost guarantee that there is at least 2 lippie stix in my handbag at all times. They are amazing!

Side note: Colourpop needs to stop releasing new products so close together, I’m gonna be broke.

Collection Cosmetics Gorgeous Glow Blush & Bronzing Blocks* – RRP: $16.99 NZD

Collection Gorgeous Glow Bricks

When I look at these, I can’t help but think of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks – and honestly, that’s basically what these are. They’re a much more affordable version of a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick.

Now I can’t claim that these are as good as the Shimmer Bricks, as we don’t own any – but these are pretty damn good highlighters (despite their bronzing and blush claims) and look amazing on the cheekbones. I apply these with a MAC 130 brush, or any stippling brush and they blend like a dream. Definitely worth checking out, as I don’t think these are shown enough love!

Drugstore makeup has certainly come a very long way. Back in the day it didn’t even compare to high-end makeup, but these days you can find products that are just as good, if not better. It’s a very exciting time to be a makeup addict!

What was your favourite drugstore makeup product that you discovered in 2016?
